Operational Support within the Mechanical Design and R&D department.

The candidate will be responsible for the thermal, fluid dynamics, structural, and mechanical design of complex industrial furnaces for the melting, maintenance and alloying of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, lead, and zinc (e.g., melting furnaces, rotary reverberatory furnaces, holding furnaces, tower furnaces) and the associated combustion systems (burners, gas ramps, heat recovery systems), ensuring energy efficiency, compliance with safety regulations and process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Furnace design: technical development, thermal and structural sizing, material selection, and 3D/2D modelling of structural steelwork and refractories
  • Combustion systems: system sizing, modelling of fluid dynamics for combustion gases and development of layouts including piping, valves, and instrumentation
  • Documentation and compliance: drafting of technical specifications, bills of materials (BOM), operating manuals, CE directives and application of mandatory regulations
  • Technical Interfaces: Coordination with industrial automation (PLC/SCADA) for temperature control logic

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Energy Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent background
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design of furnaces for the aluminium metallurgy industry and combustion systems
  • Experience in the design of structural carpentry and refractory systems
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
  • Knowledge of tools for FEM analysis and CFD fluid-thermal simulations, such as ANSYS, Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar software
